ESG at the 49th Paris Air Show
ESG Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH presents new technology for manned and unmanned aviation systems.
Fürstenfeldbruck, 17 June 2011
At the 49th Paris Air Show in Le Bourget from 20th to 26th June, ESG Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH will be presenting its comprehensive service portfolio as a Design Organisation for the design, development, integration and logistic support of customised avionics, mission and IT systems.
Learn more about ESG’s services for manned and unmanned aviation systems in Hall 2C, German Pavilion, Booth C357.
The focus of ESG’s presentation at this year’s Paris Air Show is on:
- Unmanned Mission Avionics Test Helicopter (UMAT)
- UAV mission simulation including ground control station
- Sense & Avoid Assistance Function (SAAFu) for the UAV operator
- Sensor-based Landing Aid (SeLa) for helicopters that enables the pilot to land safely during degraded vision (brownout & whiteout).
Unmanned Mission Avionics Test Helicopter (UMAT)
The UMAT is a VTOL-UAS (Vertical Take Off & Landing – Unmanned Aerial System) which can be flown automatically and / or guided from the ground by the UAV control station. With the UMAT, ESG provides an unmanned flying testbed for special applications for military and civil customers. These applications cover a wide spectrum ranging from R&D analyses for military customers (e.g. verification of UAS platform performance within a particular operational environment) to special services for civil customers (e.g. border patrol, environmental monitoring etc.).
Sense & Avoid Assistance Function (SAAFu)
SAAFu, with its innovative display, enables early detection of any collision risks by the UAS operator, who can avoid them with appropriate flight manoeuvres. Moreover, the SAAFu is the only known system specifically designed to allow the operator on the ground to avoid flight manoeuvres that would lead to a collision. With SAAFu ESG has created a system that converts the data into an ideal format and presents it to the UAS operator.
Sensor-based Landing Aid (SeLa)
Helicopter landings - particularly in arid regions - raise loose particles such as dust and sand (brownout) or snow (whiteout) into the air, thus significantly impairing visibility for the pilot. For this reason ESG has developed a system that enables pilots to maintain their ground reference during degraded vision, to obtain comprehensive information about the position of the helicopter (altitude, climb / sink rate, drift and obstacles) and thereby allowing the pilot to land safely and on time. The system is known as Sensor-based Landing Aid "SeLa".
For almost five decades, ESG has been one of Germany's leading companies for the development, integration and operation of electronic and IT systems. With more than 1500 employees globally, we provide logistics, system development, training and consultancy services for military, government and industry customers.
Independent process and technology consultancy is one of ESG's key areas of expertise. By enabling technology transfer between markets, we make a decisive contribution to the added value of our customers.
