New training centre for all Volkswagen France brands
ESG responsible for training operations in new building in Merignac near Bordeaux.

Workshop and service staff from all Volkswagen France brands can look forward to new and improved training opportunities. As of this summer, the new 1,400 square metre training centre in Mérignac near Bordeaux is in operation. ESG Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH is responsible for the building and for conducting all training sessions on behalf of Volkswagen.
The modern training centre serves as the central location for all technical training for the Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Skoda brands and the VW commercial vehicle sector in the entire South and West of France, with over 200 workshops. In future, up to 90 participants will be trained together in training sessions lasting one or several days. Topics such as vehicle repair, optimising workshop equipment or questions concerning on-site service will be dealt with.
Three training rooms with lifting platforms and latest-generation workshop equipment, including a measuring stand with laser technology, are available for training sessions; in another room, the foyer of a car dealership is reproduced. Several conference rooms and a separate room for IT training sessions complete the range of facilities on offer. Bordeaux has thus become "a worldwide benchmark for all VW importers," says Manfred Senger, who is responsible for training for the VW brand around the world. A total of five qualified ESG trainers will be permanently employed in the VW training centre and this number will be increased to meet demand.
The training centre will be operated by ESG. The director of ESG in France, Dr. Oliver Nass, added: “This training centre is further proof of our ability to offer our customers complete solutions, from site analysis and selection, through to the tender and financing, followed by construction and operation of the building.” On behalf of Volkswagen, the company is also responsible for organising and conducting the training sessions. ESG staff play an important role in this.
The company is able to draw on its extensive experience of organising training sessions for the automotive sector. ESG has been operating training centres for General Motors, Ford and Jaguar-Land Rover for many years. The company has also conducted a large number of training sessions for Volkswagen France in the past; the EOS market launch several years ago was accompanied by intensive training for workshop employees, for example. ESG´s French subsidiary, ESG France, as well as Paris subsidiary Créalie, are registered as an “organisme de formation”, that is to say as an officially recognised training organisation.
