The cooperative project ZEBEL

ESG and its partner Schenker Deutschland AG have been playing a major role in logistics for the army since the year 2000. In framework of a cooperative project, both companies operate a central federal storage facility (ZEBEL) in Kaufungen near Kassel . ZEBEL supplies 185 civilian companies and military maintenance facilities that repair defense systems and vehicles for the army. Supplying all categories of spare parts, the warehouse acts as a central logistics hub between the army's material depots and maintenance companies.

As the main contractor, ESG directs the entire material management with the "Material Disposition Network" (MDNpro) program. The web-based software covers data processing, provision of spare parts, replacement part management, and determination of material requirements and the supply thereof. As the subcontractor, Schenker Deutschland AG administers all operative tasks such as transport, warehousing, and consignment.

The goal of ZEBEL is to supply maintenance companies more effectively and economically. Using modern data processing, the German Army would additionally like to achieve the greatest cost transparency possible. In the past few years, the cooperative project has been able to reduce processing times, inventories, and thus capital expenses as well as increase material availability and the transparency of all process sequences. The cooperation with the German Army clearly exceeds the economical target values.
